Early Life and Coaching Career
Daniel Hurley was born on October 22, 1973, in Jersey City, New Jersey. He played basketball at Saint Peter's College, before starting his coaching career as an assistant at Rutgers University in 1997. Hurley went on to hold assistant coaching positions at Wagner College and the University of Rhode Island, before becoming the head coach at Wagner in 2010.
Success at Rhode Island
In 2012, Hurley was hired as the head coach at the University of Rhode Island. He led the Rams to three NCAA Tournament appearances and won two Atlantic 10 Conference titles. In 2017, Hurley was named the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.
UConn Huskies
